Taking Care – Allotments

Having an allotment is beautiful, and easy at the same time. The hardest bit is planting, and getting the plants strong enough in the earth before the slugs get them. Pigeons were also a big problem at the beginning, we would arrive to do some watering and they'd fly off our beds. We have a shared allotment, and we own 2 beds there. This makes it more manageable when there are others helping out and mowing the lawn and stuff like that. Now our beds are abundant with flowers and vegetables. I like going down to the allotment every day to water (not when it's raining!) and finding more surprises  (today, I found teeny pumpkins) and picking flowers. The other bonus is how the food tastes so different to shop bought foods. More fresh, and with sensational tastes. I would recommend planting even if you only have a small garden.
